What's On... |
News...Dear Friends,
We urgently need your help. Wandsworth Council has launched Phase 2 Consultation on Wandsworth Park Playground the consultation is now live and closes on 16th Jun 2024. There are many aspects that can be improved, the design is not as ambitious or as innovative as the ones we have subsequently seen in our neighbour parks (i.e., Coronation Gardens). The proposed upgrade for Wandsworth Park is £241,500 vs Coronation Gardens playground project cost £173,000. OPTION 2 Friends of Wandsworth Park have significant concerns about "Design Option 2" which features a zipwire.
This is our preferred option and we believe “Option 3” is the closest design to what residents have told the Council they would like to see in the playground during the Phase 1 Consultation. Based on studying available equipment and comparison with other park playgrounds developed in last 3 years we suggest the following additional requests:
Tossers - Litter loutsAs always the summer brings the litter bugs to the park and FOWP continue to keep an eye on the situation and do a bit of tidying up. Mark McPartland, one of our regular park users, has walked the entire width and breadth of the park collecting bottle caps - see his collection of brands above. Well done Mark - setting a great example!!
Does anyone want to take on the challenge of what food packaging is most discarded in the Park? Or perhaps the most interesting piece of rubbish? Or which items are most frequently left on the field and not in the bin?! C’mon, go for it! We await some interesting replies. Some of us have our own findings already! |
