Swifts Conservation

In 2021, Friends of Wandsworth Park installed 100 swift boxes along Fawe Park Road, Bective Road and Wadham Road in Putney with funding from the RSPB and the Wandsworth Grant Fund. 

A truly community-led initiative to provide secure breeding sites for Swifts, which migrate thousands of miles from Africa each summer but are losing their traditional nesting places due to building renovations and modern construction.

By creating new, safe homes, the project directly tackles the loss of habitat, which is a major factor in the Swift being placed on the UK's Red List of conservation concern.
